Fur Cleaning

Accepting Furs for Cleaning and or Storage
The care and storage of fur is essential for the duration of the fur apparel life expectancy. Our fur storage is a controlled temperature and humidity vault, providing the ideal storage environment for the best possible fur care. If you wish to store the fur yourself, it is often recommended to store furs in a cool dry place and never store furs in plastic bags. To cover up furs for protection, it is best to cover the furs with cotton or cotton like clothes such as sheets or pillowslips. This enables the skins of the fur to breathe and the skins do not dry out.

Accepting furs over the Counter

The following are some things you should keep in mind when taking in the fur.

  1. Look for tears, holes or worn areas.
  2. Feel for dry skins or hardened areas.
  3. Count the buttons, belts, or hook and eyes.
  4. Look for discoloration or oxidizing process. We do not have the same whitening agents as the manufacturers use to process the white furs to make them appear whiter.
  5. Always inspect the lining for tears, frayed areas, or heavy stains. If the lining is heavily stained, we cannot always get aggressive to those stains if the lining is stitched directly to the skins. Fur cleaning is a very delicate process.
